PostSubject: Just a Concern   Mon Oct 28, 2013 3:30 pm

So I noticed something. The way that the stat boosts work is very very odd because of some of the values.

Just as an example... Protein's cost 250,000 and they give 10 strength... well, Both the hp up and Iron cost exactly the same, but only give half the value of Protein. This is a bit of a concern because it makes building up a defensive pokemon far harder than offensive, and people are more likely to just stack Strength which does not promote for interesting builds. If someone wants a build that focuses on Defense and health, they have to work twice as hard, or more just to keep pace with someone who's building an offensive type and using those items to enhance.

Something should be done to remedy this situation, either to bring hp and defense into line with Protein through decrease in costs, or through an increase in the stats they give would more than do it.

Thank you for your consideration and for reading this message.

I agree to raise the costs, drugs on a pokemon are OP and they deserve to be far more expensive.

I could accept them being more expensive, but I still would like to see a change to make buying Defensive and health up's more worthwhile. To get half the value of strength, and with how powerful Luck can be is quite a pain. Also, I have another suggestion.

Luck's ability to completely ignore defense, pretty much makes defensive pokemon useless. This is another thing that also supports the idea that strength builds rule all. with evasion and block in there, it is a little easier to handle but I want to know exactly what block does. Is it like an evasion and has the chance to completely stop an attack? is it affected by Luck? or does it simply let you ignore that percent of the damage dealt to you?

I think somewhere on the forums an explanation of how the stat system functions would be well wanted, simply because some people might not understand the stats completely and they would like to know what they are getting out of each point.

Sorry for the extended posts but I want to be as detailed as I can and as for my suggestion on Luck, To make it still viable I was thinking that it could be changed to ignore only half of the opponents defense instead of all, this would make it more fair than suddenly getting hit by 500 damage attacks do to a luck hit, wouldn't you say? And not only that, but defense would continue to remain important even vs a pokemon that is using luck.

Thank you for listening, Snosoul, A.K.A. Daxos signing off.

I think the stat point system is fine how it is now imo. But to get your point across about this specific topic, you'd have to talk to Vash

the irons up defense by 5 proteins up attack by 10 and hp ups up hp by 30 so do to the 30 point boost its still fairly easy to have a wall build for your pokemon

I was also basing some of my math on what you invest through skill points, not just from a money or boost standpoint. and 30 hp isn't much of a boost, I actually thought it was 40 so it's even lower than I thought it was.

Simple math time, 1 protein is equivalent to about 5 stat points, so using a protein over those 5 stat points can add up. say you have only 1 mill, that's about 4 of whatever. No matter what you spend it on, Protein will wind up saving you 20 stat points that you could put into %'s or another more lacking stat. Whereas hp and Defence? only 2 points and some change, so about 3. Protein as a whole is a better investment when it comes to boosts, as well as money usage, and also. 30 hp compared to 10 attack? It just doesn't quite matchup when you add in the other bonus's such as accuracy which can be used to help counter Evasion, Luck which completely ignores Defense when you luck hit, and with how much your attack can be increased it doesn't matter if your a 700 defensive wall with 2000 hp and just enough attack to cause damage. If they have a high enough luck and accuracy then your defensive wall literally does not slow them down at all. at the same time, the wall might have some luck itself, but what's say, as an example, 400 damage every so often, to the possibility of 5-600 damage every other swing?

Block is the only thing I can't factor in because I cannot tell if it's just a better evasion, or if it's a damage reduction. Which, my question still went unanswered about what exactly block does.

I don't want to seem too much like I'm prying and things but It's got me worried the game is too heavily favoring attack types. I wouldn't even say to make the values even would fix it, because that would make them more broken. Defense literally blocks out that much attack and as such unless the opponent is running luck they're doing little-no damage. And right now everyone is running at least a little, or a lot of luck.
